Oh, she of tawny hair, and fair complexion,
A ray of light, in a dull and dreary world,
A wondrous child, so worthy of affection,
A shining star as on a flag unfurled.
Oh, how we played when she was just a baby,
A giggle, laughing, always with a smile,
Rolling, tumbling, romping, til I thought maybe,
She’d wear me out, in just a little while.
Oh, then as she grew just a little older,
Her flaxen hair was shining in the sun,
As she’d go speeding just a little bolder,
Oh, what a pleasure just to watch her run.
